[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The property is situated at the bottom of a hill in a semi-rural location in a small hamlet called Littleworth Common, in Buckinghamshire. The rear garden had a natural stream and large pond. The high water table contributed to the extremly wet ground for the majority of the year, with two dogs and five children the clients wanted a surface that would be usable even in the wetter months, that would be low maintenance and easy to keep clean. A large kitchen extension was added with bi-fold doors providing excellent access to the rear patios which created a great opportunity to combine the outside and inside space. The Usher family also wanted level access between the floor of the new extension and the adjoining patios with no visible drainage grate to give an almost seamless finish between the interior and exterior of the property when the doors were open.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1454774350644{margin-top: -20px !important;margin-bottom: -20px !important;}”][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1454774485502{margin-bottom: -20px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1454775624078{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]INSTALL CORE BOUND, RESIN BOUND STONE SYSTEM & CORE LAWN[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]AKC completely redesigned and centered the garden around the existing stream and pond, they encased the stream in a concrete channel and paved the edges using CORE STONE natural flamed blue limestone slabs to create a modern contemporary look. For the next step, they installed a stone subbase incorporating a series of fin drains feeding into the stream, using CORE DRAINAGE BOARDS to alleviate surface water retention under both the lawn and patio areas. Next, they installed CORE EDGE, flexible steel edging that’s great for artificial grass, making it easy for them to create sweeping curves, allowing the lawn and patio to combine with no additional visual break. They then laid CORE LAWN, a premium artificial turf over an 18mm recycled shock pad to create a sumptuous feel and provide additional protection around the in-ground sunken trampoline.
The patios and pathways were created using CORE BOUND, a resin bound surfacing system, which allows resin bound stone to be laid directly over a porous gravel stabiliser, removing the need for a macadam or concrete sub-base saving both time and money, especially on sites such as rear gardens which often have limited access and again they followed the sweeping curves provided by the flexible steel edging, enhancing the aesthetics.
To finish the project, they clad the garden walls with CORE STONE tiles blending the walls of the extension with the garden walls, bringing the outside garden space together with the house.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1454774350644{margin-top: -20px !important;margin-bottom: -20px !important;}”][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1454774485502{margin-bottom: -20px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1454775798141{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Summary by AKC.
This is one of the most satisfying projects we have worked on. The clean lines provide a modern contemporary feel to this garden. All of the surfacing products we used are completely porous, allowing water to pass through the surface into the fin drains to a central collection point. The artificial lawn provides a clean usable surface 365 days of the year, that is extremely low maintenance. The CORE BOUND pathways and patios combine a gravel stabilisation grid base, with a resin bound gravel surface removing the need for a hard sub base (concrete or macadam) saving our clients time and money whilst dramatically lowering the projects carbon footprint.
The Resin Bound surface, combined with the Core fin drains allowed us to create a level access threshold with no visible drainage grate between the inside and outside space, we managed to tick all the boxes in our clients brief and provide them with exactly what they asked for well within their anticipated budget.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][ult_buttons btn_title=”BACK TO CASE STUDIES” btn_link=”url:%2Fcase-study%2F||” btn_title_color=”#ffffff” btn_bg_color=”#000000″ btn_bg_color_hover=”#f08021″ btn_title_color_hover=”#ffffff” icon_size=”32″ btn_icon_pos=”ubtn-sep-icon-at-left”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row]
